May 2012
Our newest series is entitled "Let's Talk About Sex!" Wow, are we really going there? Wait, why NOT? We are bombarded daily by talk of sex from our friends, TV, movies, radio, Facebook, etc. Is what you (and your kids!) hear Biblical? Probably not. Since God created sex shouldn't we be hearing what He has to say about it? You may be surprised at what you find out! If you've missed any of this series, remember you can watch them at http://vod.worshipstream.com/TheRescueChurchVOD

Our EMT (Extreme Ministry Team) spent the third weekend in April cleaning up a storm damaged grove of trees surrounding a recently widowed woman's home. There were approximately a dozen workers each day using chainsaws, skid steers and good old fashioned man power to complete the project. James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (NIV)
The EMTs will have a project every 3 months or so. One of the upcoming projects will be to shingle the home a single mother. If you have an idea of a project to benefit our community or an individual please let us know! Your talents are always needed and appreciated!

What is she talking about? Why doesn't he understand what I'm saying? Women are sooo emotional! Men are clueless! Sound familiar? Join us May 9-10 at either our Colman or Flandreau Campus from 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm as Mark Gungor, via DVD, gives us his acccurate insights in a hilarious way!
Supper and childcare are provided. Please RSVP and include the ages of children that will be needing care. You can watch a few clips here.

Following our Flandreau Campus service on Saturday, May 12 we will hold a reception to honor our graduating high school seniors and show our appreciation to the Flandreau Indian School students who have been attending. Please plan to join us!

April 2012

How are we blessing our communities of Flandreau and Colman? You aren't going to want to miss this one. A helicopter, yes, a helicopter, will be dropping thousands of candy filled Easter Eggs onto the Colman Ballfield (in conjection with the Colman Jaycees) and Flandreau Fairground for kids age 4 - 5th grade.

Doubting Doug is spending a few weeks with us as we are in the message series CSI:Christ's Story Investigated. Our services are Saturdays at 5 pm at the Flandreau Campus and Sundays at 10 am at both the Flandreau and Colman Campus. If you happen to miss the service, you can listen to it anytime at The RESCUE Church .

This was the first year I'd heard of this ministry. I attended the conference in Brookings, SD. The worship music was moving and the topics of the speakers seemed to be made just for me and what I was going through in my life. Having the chance to meet with all these women with similar struggles and joys was so fulfilling. I'm already looking forward to attending next year as well!

We strive to make every service, interaction and community service excellent. I know you have talents that God gave you to use in giving Him glory. There are limitless ways you can be active. We can use camera/sound/light operators, multi-media operators, people with chainsaws, construction experience, mechanical ability, those with an eye for design, a love of working with kids, musicians, bakers/cooks, you name it and we know of a place you can let God shine through you! While we need some of this weekly, many of your talents can be used through our...

Extreme Ministry Teams

At The RESCUE Church we desire to share the love of Jesus with our communities by serving people and helping to meet the needs of others. On a regular basis we will be sending out EMT’s into our communities to help people with tangible community service projects.
We look forward to serving with you!

March 2012

First let me apologize for not getting a February newletter out. I was blessed to be able to go on vacation with my husband as well as attend the C3 Conference in Texas all while our Flandreau Campus was preparing for the launch of our first multi-site - Colman Campus!

Colman Campus held it's first service on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 10:00 am. Almost every seat was full! Pastor Jon was present to give the message. We are moving to live-streaming the message each Sunday. Watch highlights - Colman Campus Launch

Sam Pickard is the Campus Pastor at Colman.

So far in our message series, Salvation Road, we have not only heard about the life transformations of Paul and Zacchaeus but of people from our own congregations. Join us as we continue in the next 2 weeks to hear more stories from Scripture as well as from our friends and neighbors. Watch a short highlight - Cardboard Testimonies

Please contact Pastors Jon or Sam if you want to be baptized.

January 2012

Why the toilet? Our message series for January has been "Flush It". We have explored what to "eliminate" from our life such as busyness & materialism and will learn about negative attitudes and unforgiveness in the upcoming weeks. I'm pretty sure you'll not find another church with a toilet as the main design element on their stage. Have a hard time believing it? Here's the proof!

We are getting closer and closer to our Colman campus launch. There are countless volunteers who have volunteered their time & resources to make this a reality. The financial need has decreased from $32,000 to $16,000! We were blessed to receive this building as a gift so this money has been used to not only paint & update the interior but also provide the audio visual components that will make live streaming the service from our Flandreau campus an excellent experience. A special thanks to the campus pastor, Sam Pickard, for coordinating these efforts.
Please remember to pray for our team heading to Jamaica. They will be leaving in February to arrive at the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf.  Among other things, they will do some work on the playground and some concrete work when they are there. The team has been learning sign language so they can converse with all the new people they will meet.

We only have 2 tickets left for the C3 Conference in Grapevine, Texas from February 15-17. There may be room in a vehicle already driving down there. The conference tickets are $100 each. Rooms have been reserved at a cost of $169.45 per PERSON for 4 nights (Tuesday, February 14 - Friday, February 17). Please let the office know ASAP if you are interested in attending.

A quick recap of our December events~

In cooperation with the Breadbasket we served members of our community a catered Christmas meal in an elegant setting. Each child also received a wrapped Christmas gift.

The Great Giveaway held at two services Christmas Eve saw many, many people attend and not only get some cool stuff but hear about the gift of salvation!

December 2011

Are you ready for THE GREAT GIVEAWAY? Have I peaked your curiosity? Find out at one of our Christmas Eve services. We will have services at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. It'll be like no service you've ever attended!
We will NOT have a Christmas Day service.
I recently read about a woman who pepper sprayed other shoppers so that she could obtain whatever the most recent electronic "must have" item was on sale. While initially I was only appalled, I then realized I need to pray for her for she obviously does not know Christ. How many people in your life, while not going to those extremes, are stressing out about the finances involved in gift buying, the time & resources it takes to prepare the perfect meal, spotlessly cleaning the house and/or making arrangements to travel out of town? Maybe I'm talking about you. I know this has described me. My daughter presented a solution to this madness last year when she proposed we don't buy gifts at Christmas time. No, we have not become Scrooges! We give our kids and grandkids a big gift on their birthdays and spend Christmas celebrating Christ's birthday. We give to others through the Angel Tree and other mission minded organizations. Our family will have stockings of goodies, but our focus will be spending time together.

Keep the family and friends of the following people in your prayers:
Gary Hemmer
Lary Peters
Helen G. Schoeneman
Martin May
Nels Edrup
Valerie Bittner
Penny Hurley
The RESCUE Kidz has become a huge hit with kids age 4 - grade 5! Chase's high energy and creative approach to telling kids about Christ has drawn not only new kids, but they're coming back and bringing their parents, too! Praise for all the people learning what a relationship with Christ is all about!
