March 2013

Well by now we have passed the sub zero temperatures that plague us in January and February. This is, however, considered one of the snowiest months. At least we know whatever we receive is going to be short lived as SPRING IS COMING! I think we are all looking forward to opening up some windows and spending some time outside. There has been so much sickness this year we need to air out our homes!
Please keep Bayne (infant son of Lexie Bennett from the Colman Campus) in your prayers as he has recently undergone heart surgery.
Also lift up Liberty Amdahl, a two year old in the Flandreau community who has neuroblastoma that has stopped responding to chemotherapy.
Many marriages in our communities have been struggling lately. Please pray for them to be restored.

Break Out youth group has been meeting on Sunday nights with success. The students have been having a great time! They meet every Sunday evening at 6:00 pm at 108 N Wind St in Flandreau (the old Trailz End). A van leaves from the Colman campus at 5:35 pm to bring students. If you'd like to help out, let Chase Riber from the Flandreau Campus know.

Are you a seeker that’s curious to investigate what a relationship with God is all about? Are you a believer who desires to grow more in your walk with Jesus? Are you interested in learning more about The RESCUE Church or possibly even becoming a member? If your answer is YES to any of these, we invite you to join us for NEXT STEP, a 4-week small group class that will help you identify and take whatever the NEXT STEP God is calling you to take. Class starts Sunday, March 3 at 6:30 pm.

Be a part of the most unique Easter event in our area!
Bring plastic eggs filled with candy or order from www.netegg.us ($120 for 1000 filled eggs)
Help on the day of the event. Let your campus pastor know, fill out the tear-off tab of your bulletin, call (605-573-0080), or email (therescuechurch@hotmail.com)

February 2013

Brrrrr!
As I write this we have had many days of sub zero weather. Some with wind chill, some without. Anyone who knows me can vouch for my intolerance to this extreme cold. Basically I'm a big baby. What keeps me going is remembering that spring will come. I scour the gardening catalogs planning what I will plant in my garden. I spend time on Pinterest repinning gardening and camping ideas. We already have our camping schedule done for the upcoming season!
This same coping works when there are seasons in my live when I'm feeling down and stuck. I spend time in the Bible and receive encouragement that I share with others, I pray and know that God hears me. I already know that I'm going to heaven when my time on earth is done.
I have had times in my life when I was a victim of depression and felt helpless against it. Since inviting Christ into my life and sincerely try to live as a 24/7 believer, not a one hour a week believer, I am no longer a victim. The feelings penetrate into my head but Christ keeps them out of my heart and there is no longer any hopelessness. I know depression no longer controls me, Christ does! - Chris

February is a busy month here at The RESCUE Church!

As The RESCUE Church continues to grow and see many new faces come through our doors, one consistent statement we hear from people is that, “This church is not like so many other churches I’ve seen.” And whether that’s intended in a positive or negative manner, the one thing just about everyone would agree on is that there is something very unique about The RESCUE Church! So what is it? What are the values that our church embraces? What is it that makes us who we are? We invite you to join us for our“iValue” series in which we’ll explore five core values that we believe have shaped us and caused us to be a church that captures the attention of others around us.

The new youth ministry, BreakOut, is kicking off on the evening of the Super Bowl!
If you want to help with this ministry in any way, please let Pastor Chase from the Flandreau Campus know. He has all the details of the whats & whens as they move forward with our newest ministry.

The Colman Campus is hosting a viewing of the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 3rd for people of all ages! Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided, feel free to bring a side dish or dessert.

January 2013

Happy New Year! The RESCUE Church was busy in 2012 reaching people and leading them to Christ. Here's a link to our video recap.

There has been alot of disscussion regarding God and prayer in school again this year, especially following the tragic shootings in Connecticut. I would like to offer my two cents worth. I believe God is in our schools whether we choose to acknowledge Him or not. I also believe that we need to be teaching our kids that prayer is more than reciting learned prayers that are simply memorized words said at certain times of the day or week while in a particular pose. Our kids need to know that prayer is simply talking to the One person who is ALWAYS ready and interested in what we have to say. The things that they readily write in a note or text or pick up their phone to say to a friend are what prayers are when directed to God. So you see, prayer will always be in school, in government buildings, at the grocery store, etc when we remember it is simply talking to God. I respect everyone who treasures a loved meal time prayer or other routine prayer, just remember there's so much more to prayer than that. When your goal is to spend eternity with someone you want to be comfortable talking to them about every part of your life. Chris

This helped to provide an excellent Christmas Banquet to members of our communities and will enable us to expand our technology to reach people around the world as well as down the road.

Delivering nutritious meals to those who have limited ability to provide for themselves is extremely rewarding. If you have not ever participated, make time the next time we are on the schedule.

Was this series FUN or what! When was the last time you had a snowball fight or helped yourself to a candy bar in church? And who can forget this video.
We had the privilege to serve a delicious catered meal and give Christmas gifts to some very special guests. We were honored to have them attend our banquet!

WORD UP
Never before has the Bible been more accessible to people in our world than it is today. Yet at the same time, many people in our culture suffer from biblical illiteracy and their lives are hurting because of it! We invite you to join us for this 4-week series where we will explain how knowing the Word of God benefits your life, equip you with some practical resources and tips for reading and studying the Bible, and introduce you to the Author of Scripture. It’s time to ‘WORD UP’ and begin a life-long journey of mastering God’s Word!

Remember, if you miss a message, you can watch them here. We are live every Sunday morning at 10 am here. If you want to join us in person, you can do that Saturdays at 5 pm at 300 E 2nd Ave, Flandreau, SD or Sunday mornings at 10 am at either 128 NE 3rd St, Colman, SD or 300 E 2nd Ave, Flandreau, SD. We'd love to have you as our guest!

Coming Event

The men will have their 3rd annual 36 hour ski trip to Terry Peak in February.
Watch our facebook as well as our bulletins for more information.

December 2012

Starting to feel the pressure and stress that leads up to Christmas? The perfect gift for everyone on your list. The toy that they HAVE to have...that then sits unnoticed by the following week. The perfect meal for your family. The baking. The parties. The finances! Why not start a new family tradition? Christmas is the celebration of Christ's birth. Why not make your friend's and family's birthday the focus of a big, significant gift and celebrate Christmas by giving smaller gifts to each other then "adopting" a family or kid who may not otherwise have a Christmas? You will not believe how much better you feel.

On a personal note - our family started this a few years back. Our motivation? I was a single mom going to college when my kids were little. They were Angel Tree kids. The only time in the year they got new clothes or a new toy (other than from grandparents on their birthday) was from people who generously gave. They remember the joy they felt. Now that we are the ones doing the giving we realize the ever greater joy we feel by paying it forward.

Can Buddy the Elf teach us anything about the true meaning of Christmas? YES! This December, The RESCUE Church invites you to join us for a three-week, fun-filled, family-friendly worship experience entitled The ELF Series!
  • Surprise give-aways!
  • Gifts for the kids EVERY week!
  • Fun Christmas music!
  • Guaranteed laughter!
  • Inspirational teaching!
Make sure you invite all your friends for this FUN series. You can start by inviting them to:

We will be kicking off the Christmas season with a party! You don't want to miss the excitement of our pep rally. Our band will be playing and rockin' this place! We will also be having baptisms so if you've accepted Christ and haven't been baptized, now's the time! Then to top off the evening we are having a potluck. If you've never been to one of our pot lucks you have no idea what you're missing. These people can cook & bake!

Dear RESCUE Church Family,

At The RESCUE Church, we believe God has given us a huge vision to bring a message of hope and salvation to hurting people all around the world.  I want to tell you about an exciting opportunity you have this Christmas to participate in that vision through a very special event called the Christmas Tree Offering.

We are asking God to provide $30,000 that will be used to reach people with the message of His love in the following ways:

Christmas Banquet:
On Friday, December 21st The RESCUE Church will once again share the love of Jesus and the hope of the Christmas season as we provide an elegant banquet to people in Moody County who are struggling to make ends meet in these hard economic times and could really use a generous blessing during the holidays.

Multi-Site Technology:
God has called The RESCUE Church, through the use of modern technology, to be one church that meets in multiple locations.   Through His provision of this Christmas Tree Offering, we plan to purchase 6 video conferencing units that will allow our church to expand from our current two locations to six locations!  On the surface, the thought of purchasing technology might not seem too exciting.  But when you understand that there are souls who need Jesus, marriages that need restoring, addictions that need to be broken, and hurting lives waiting on the other side of this technology and message of hope that it will deliver, you can see this is about so much more than just technology… it’s about people!

The RESCUE Church’s Next Campus Launch:
At the moment, we are keeping our next campus location a secret until all the final details are worked out.  Lord willing, in early December we will be going public with the full details of the next RESCUE Church campus that will be launched in early 2013!  We will use a portion of the Christmas tree offering to purchase some of the start-up equipment for this campus.

So how does the Christmas Tree Offering work?
On December 15th & 16th we will place a bare Christmas tree on the stage at both of our campuses.  We then will have a special time of allowing people to come up decorate the tree with their gift.  If you are unable to join us in person on that weekend we invite you to go to our website (www.therescuechurch.org) and participate in the Christmas Tree Offering electronically by clicking the DONATE ONLINE button any time leading up to that weekend.

I believe that God is going to use The RESCUE Church to bring thousands of people into His kingdom from all over the world.  Your generous participation in the year’s Christmas Tree Offering will help make that vision a reality.  Thank you in advance for letting God work through your generosity!

In Christ,
Pastor Jon

WOW! That's a lot of stuff going on in the life of our church! We exist to be outwardly focused to reach people with the life-saving news of Christ! If you're not involved in one of the many opportunities to serve you really are missing out on the "warm fuzzies" that come from helping in even the smallest ways.
No matter if you're shy or outgoing there is a place for you to serve.
  • Multi-media (advancing slides during the worship service)
  • Camera (ensuring Jon is in the center of the screen)
  • Sound (flipping the switches so the band and Jon are heard)
  • First Impressions (making & serving beverages at the coffee bar, greeting our visitors with a smile, open the door for our visitors)
  • Usher (handing out bulletins, passing the buckets during offering)
  • Nursery (watching kids with another person so everyone has the opportunity to hear the message without distraction)
  • RESCUE Kidz (assist Pastor Chase with interactive, fun learning for kids age 4 through grade 5)
  • iCampus (chat with visitors to our online service on Sunday mornings)
We have people who are more than willing to instruct you in each of these areas so you are comfortable.
We utilize an online scheduling program so you can block out any days you are unable to serve.

November 2012

We are officially in the autumn season. The kids are into their school routines, football is played & watched, leaves are crunching underfoot and the sweatshirts have been become a regular part of the wardrobe.
There are quite a few happenings in November that we need to be aware of~
Move your clock back one hour when you go to bed Saturday night, November 3. When you're checking your smoke alarms don't forget to check your carbon monoxide detectors as well!

Remember your vote counts! Be an informed voter!
Ladies: The RESCUE Church DIVAS will meet Friday, November 9 at 6 pm at the Flandreau Campus. This is open to all our campuses and the community. This month's theme is "Through the Decades!" Your challenge is to dress in your favorite decade clothes and accessories! Maybe your favorite character from the 1930s film Wizard of Oz or Gone with the Wind. I think I know at least a few that would go back to the 80s hair if they could! Have fun with it and be creative. You are welcome to bring your yearbooks and favorite photos too! We will be collecting items to donate to the bread basket this month. This is not only a great way to meet other women but you can help prepare the goodies that we share each month. Contact Brianna (jbvoneye@hotmail.com) if you can help out any month.

These men and women have sacrificed to ensure your freedom.
Take the time everyday to be thankful for every little thing in your life. Your family, church, friends, health, life, purpose, job, food, clothing, shelter and most of all new life in Christ!

Looking back:
Volunteers from both Colman and Flandreau campus as well as from the Flandreau Indian School worked two days beautifying The Breadbasket which serves Moody County.

October 2012

Fall has arrived. Everyone seems to be getting back into their post-summer routines. Our Flandreau Campus resumed Saturday services in September just in time. Their weekly Sunday attendance was getting close to 150 people! Praise God! We also continue to see growth in our Colman Campus. We started our third campus in September - our iCampus. We have been seeing growth in this campus as well!

Ten Ways To Help Your Pastor,
Your Church, and Yourself

~ By Ron Hood
1) Treat him with the proper respect. Treat him the same way you would a doctor, a lawyer, or a politician. A pastor's role is more important than all of these professional roles because he is God's appointed leader for you and your family. Therefore esteem him very highly in love for his work's sake. (1 Thess. 5:12-13)
2) Follow your pastor as he follows Christ. (1 Cor. 11:1, Heb. 13:7) Never blindly follow anyone, but always follow the man of God who is following Jesus Christ as set forth in the Word of God. (Phil. 3:17-21)
3) Pray for him often. (Eph. 6:18-20; 2 Thess. 3:1-2) You know how much opposition you receive from the world, the flesh, and the devil; your pastor receives even more, therefore, pray for him! (Scroll down to the next section called "Prayer" for a guide to praying for your pastor.)
4) Obey him as he admonishes you and teaches you the Word of God. (1 Thess. 5:12 and Heb. 13:17) These verses teach that you should submit, obey, and follow.
5) Do not speak against or listen to any gossip or slander about your pastor. First Timothy 5:19 reads, "Don’t listen to a complaint against a leader..." and Eph. 4:29 reads, "Don’t let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth...." Proverbs 6:16-19 teaches that God hates for us to hurt people with words. Listening to gossip and slander is just as much a sin as speaking it.
6) Support him financially so he can keep his mind on the work of the ministry. (1 Tim. 5:17, 18 and Phil. 4:10-19) The ministry of the Word of God is twice as important as just making a living. If a man cannot properly care for his family, he will be distracted from the ministry. It costs your pastor just as much to live as it does you, and in some cases more because of the additional transportation and the way he is expected to dress.
7) Encourage your pastor. Tell him when he has helped you. Ephesians 4:29 teaches that we should speak that which edifies, or builds up. You minister grace to your pastor when you tell him how he has helped you. He will be a more effective, dedicated servant of God if you give him some feedback on his ministry to you. (Prov. 3:27) It will also be very encouraging if you tell your Sunday School teacher, husband or wife, and children how they have helped or been a blessing to you. Praise doesn't cost - it pays great dividends - in the home, in the church, in the school, and on the job.
8) Be patient and understanding with your pastor, his wife, and his children. Don’t expect your pastor or his family to be perfect; they are human. John 1:5 and James 5:17 teach that a man of God has the same human weaknesses and temptations that we all face.
9) Stay busy serving the Lord. This will bless your life and be a tremendous encouragement to your pastor. You have a spiritual gift, so use it. John 13:17 teaches, "Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." Happiness doesn't come from knowing what is right; happiness comes from doing what is right. Therefore, serve the Lord.
10) Be a blessing to your pastor, your family, and all who know you by being a soul winner. People all around us are lost in sin, dying and going to hell. Do all in your power to win them to Jesus Christ. Tell them what Christ has done for you and what He can do for them. Reflect on what your salvation means to you and then realize that those who are lost in sin need the same joy, peace, assurance, and hope that you have.
